Subject:A Workshop On the Boundary Element Method

Sponsored by the US National Science Foundation, a workshop on the boundary element method (BEM) will be held on The University of Akron campus (in the suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, USA) during September 1-3, 2010. This workshop composes of a two-day short course on the basics of the BEM and a one-day symposium on the emerging applications and future directions of the BEM. Researchers and engineers around the world and students across the US, including both graduate and undergraduate students, are invited to participate in this workshop. Fellowship support will be given to 15 graduate or undergraduate students from US universities to support them participating this workshop.

Subject:I have a question about the BC on the process of carrying out FMM.

Hi,
I have a question about the BC on the process of carrying out FMM.

Comput Mech (2007) 40:461–472 "An adaptive fast multipole boundary element method for three-dimensional acoustic wave problems based on the Burton–Miller formulation" Equation(2),(15)

Generally,we only know the Neumann BC on the S. Dirichlet BC need to be calculated. Then calculate the acoustic field.
My question is how you implement FMM without Dirichlet BC? On the Eqt.15,the Dirichlet BC is known. IS Dirichlet BC calculated by traditional BEM or FMMBEM?

Thanks,
zhang

Subject:There is a problem in using the software

I downloaded the Free Student Edition software. When I use the example input_scattering example, the software will not run well, there is a error:
forrtl severe (59):list-directed I/O syntax error.
I don't change any parameter. What I can do to settle this problem.

Thank you very much!

Subject:Can Fast Multipole BEM solve axisymmetric elastic problem under inner pressure load?

I am a PhD student from Dalian University of Technology. The problem is stress analysis about a closed cylinder shell under inner pressure load. Can Fast Multipole BEM solve this problem? thanks!

Hi,
Can I know if there are any text books on the FMBEM? Introductory books perhaps?
